Specializing in Burgundian style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Kistler Vineyards is a small family-owned winery located in the Russian River Valley. Since its first vintage in 1979, the winery has grown in size to produce 25,000 cases per year. ($65) Bright lemon-yellow color. Orange peel, spices and mint on the rather restrained nose. Very fat, rich and dense but light on its feet. A strong peachy flavor is enlivened by nervy acidity. Intriguingly tactile chardonnay that's quite unevolved today but is extremely promising. My Burgundy light went on as soon as I put this in my mouth.
