A perfumed, cool and restrained nose exhibits notes of both red and blue berries, earth and a hint of spice. There is a discreet minerality present on the silky textured flavors that don't possess the same muscle as the "1er" but the supporting structure is slightly firmer but notably finer.

(from vines planted on deeper soil in the mid-1950s): Bright medium red. An explosion of red fruits, flowers and spices on the tangy nose. Sweet, supple and fruit-driven, offering moderate depth and an attractive balance of sweetness and acidity. Finishes with firm tannins.
