Good dark red, a bit less bright and ruby than the En Famille and Coteaux Nobles bottlings. Complex aromas of crushed raspberry, cherry, mocha, underbrush, graphite and black tea, accented by a peppery element. Suave, broad and fine-grained, with a youthfully bitter edge to the intense flavors of red and darker berries and spices. Finishes quite dry in a positive way, with a firm spine for aging. Morlet noted that his 2011s are a half-degree lower in alcohol across the board than usual but this wine still weighs in at a very healthy 14.5%.

From the highest elevation site, the 2011 Pinot Noir Joli Coeur is slightly more backward than its siblings. Revealing the darkest color along with good acidity, lots of minerality, and a dark berry, foresty and floral personality, it will benefit from another 6-12 months of bottle age, and should keep for 7-8 years.
