Bright gold. Sexy, highly perfumed aromas of pear, melon, nectarine and orange zest, complicated by subtle notes of iodine, anise and chalk. Deep, penetrating citrus and pit fruit flavors are underscored by chalky minerality, which adds lift and cut. A floral quality comes up with air and carries through the spicy, very persistent finish.

Rochioli's 2011 Chardonnay River Block is impressive. Subtle and understated in this vintage, the 2011 is classy from start to finish. Bright citrus and white orchard fruit lead to sweet floral notes in this delineated, energetic Chardonnay. Although the 2011 is a bit laid back relative to recent vintages, there is a lot to like. This is a gorgeous wine from Tom Rochioli. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021.

Slow to unfold but gains steadily, offering green apple, pineapple and toasty flavors, with citrus, light oak and floral scents. Shows impressive balance and a solid sense of proportion.

With three generations of dedication to the land, Rochioli Vineyards and Winery has earned the reputation as one of Sonoma County's finest. This family legacy began in 1938, when Joe Rochioli Sr. purchased land he had long farmed. He had the foresight to know that the soil of the Russian River Valley would one day produce some of the world's greatest wines. His son Joe Jr. embraced this vision and today craft renowned, terrior-driven wines built on a foundation of superb fruit.
