(43% new French oak): Dark red. Sexy dark berries, dried cherry and oak spices on the nose. On the palate, bitter cherry and cola flavors pick up a peppery nuance with air. Youthfully taut on the finish, which features a bitter chocolate note and silky, even tannins. Nicely balanced pinot, with an interesting interplay of sweetness and piquancy that will serve very well with a wide range of foods.

About This Producer

Dan Lee had spent years working with Monterey County fruit before founding his own brand in 1982. Early successes with Chardonnay that had a consistent style and reasonable distribution made his brand a recognized leader. Around 2000, Lee started producing a Vineyard Designated Series of Pinot Noir from top properties in Santa Lucia Highlands including the organically-grown Double L Estate vineyard.
