Reviews For This Wine

An ultra-elegant, reserved, cool and distinguished nose is redolent of pure essence of red pinot fruit that is liberally laced with spice and wet stone hints. There is a lovely minerality to the concentrated but silky flavors that dance across the palate and the mouth feel is positively gorgeous. Moreover, the texture is completely different from those of the Vosne or Nuits examples, all wrapped in a long and wonderfully well-balanced finish. I would characterize this as being finer than the Genaivrières but a bit less seductive but both are worth owning.

The 2011 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fremieres unfurls in the glass: blackberry, raspberry leaf and touches of oyster shell. The palate is full in the mouth: a Chambolle with fine volume, just a touch of graininess with hints of cooked meat infused the red fruit profile that lends it a savory feel. There is lovely length here. The finish is understated, leaving just a touch of soy lingering at the back of the mouth.

About This Producer

"Domaine Leroy is a welcome reminder of the difference between the very good and the great." - Michel Bettane, Vins de France

Created in 1988 - beginning with the purchase of the 12 hectares Domaine Charles Noellat in Vosne-Romanee - Domaine Leroy has become one of the most impressive and vaunted properties in Burgundy. Cultivation follows strict biodynamic parameters and the combination of old vine preservation and ultra-low yields produce fruit of unrivaled excellence. The resultant wines are masterpieces of purity, intensity and layered subtlety enhanced by an uncommonly statuesque concentration. The spectacular reviews that these wines consistently receive attest to their incredible and solid quality - they are a lynchpin in any Burgundy enthusiast's collection.
