(includes 4% cabernet franc): Deep red-ruby. Sappy aromas of redcurrant, lavender and minerals, plus a balsamic cedary quality. Like liquid velvet in the mouth, boasting a remarkably glossy texture to the flavors of dark fruits, mocha, brown spices and minerals. Not as opulent as the 2010 (or 2012) version but this wine boasts outstanding lift and slowly building length. The finish features firm, well-integrated tannins and an impression of weightlessness. Merlot was obviously particularly successful here in 2011, as it also comprised a majority of the Estate Cuvee.

The finest two wines of this vintage include the 2011 Roberta's Reserve, which is more reserved and austere than usual. Nevertheless, it still reveals an attractive sweet chocolate and black currant-scented nose with hints of espresso, spicy oak and fruit, and a medium-bodied, supple mouthfeel. In 2011, 500 cases were produced.
