(from deeper soil than the Batard): Lemon, peach and clove on the nose. Ripe on entry, then a bit disjointed in the middle, showing some spiky acidity along with a lemon flavor complicated by a honeyed ripeness. I find this a bit dry and tannic on the aftertaste. This needs time in bottle to come into harmony.

The 2010 Bienvenues Batard-Montrachet is a seriously gorgeous wine. Endless layers of sweet, perfumed white stone fruits caress the palate in this utterly impeccable Burgundy. The 2010 is all about finesse and class. Light floral, honeyed notes wrap around the weightless, gracious finish. The Bienvenues simply oozes with class, but it also closes down quickly in the glass. Patience is the key. Anticipated maturity: 2020.
