(a 96/4 blend of grenache and syrah; from a southwest-facing parcel featuring volcanic red rock and slate soil. Good deep red-ruby. Enticing perfume of raspberry, blackberry, bergamot and jasmine tea. Wonderfully sweet on entry, then aromatic and bright in the middle, showing lovely clarity to its berry and tea flavors. The tannins are sweet and the wine builds nicely on the back end.

The 2010 Red Slope shows lovely varietal Grenache nuance and detail. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet herbs and red cherries all come together in a wine that stands out for its pointedness and precision. A host of savory notes linger on the close. The Red Slope remains one of the most distinctive wines in Helen Keplinger's lineup. As for the 2010, it is, oh, so beautiful. Readers who can find the 2010 should not hesitate. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
