International Wine Cellar | 93

(63% syrah, 25% grenache and 12% mourvedre; 15.6% alcohol): Inky purple. An alluringly perfumed nose offers blueberry, cassis and violet, with a musky Indian spice nuance in the background. Sappy, sweet and round, with a seamless texture to its deeply pitched flavors of black and blue fruits and candied flowers. Plush and spherical, with powerful finishing flavors of candied dark fruits and ripe, harmonious tannins.

Booker's 2010 Vertigo bursts from the glass with rich fruit. It is one of the more fruit-driven wines in the lineup. Dark red fruit, spices, mint, licorice and sweet herbs wrap around the fleshy finish. The blend is 63% Syrah, 25% Grenache and 12% Mourvedre, aged in 50% new oak barrels. With time in the glass, the wine's freshness and aromatic nuances come to life. This is another stunning 2010 from Eric Jensen.

Well-structured, with tight tannins and a dense core of fresh earth, black licorice, crushed rock, graphite and dried berry. Impressively focused and persistent. Will only get better. Syrah, Grenache and MourveÌ?dre.
