Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | 89

(bottled in March of 2012; 13+% natural alcohol): Bright, saturated red-ruby. Very ripe aromas of kirsch , mocha and chocolate. At once sweet and energetic, with strong acidity framing the flavors of redcurrant and leather. Still tightly wound and not at all fat but boasts very good cut. Finishes with firm tannins and decent lift.

The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur du Roi is racy, deep and totally sensual. Clean veins of minerality support a core of expressive blue and black fruit. The 2010 is both deep and long. All the elements are beautifully balanced in this impeccable, mineral driven wine. Cassis, blueberries, sweet flower and mint inform the energetic, palate staining finish. Dugat used 75% whole clusters, which gives the wine an attractive aromatic lift throughout. These vines are between 50-100 years old

About This Producer

Domaine Dugat-Py is a small family-operated winery in Gevrey-Chambertin that produces a dozen wines ranging from regional to grand cru status. In former days, the Dugat family sold their wines in bulk to local negociants, which currently limits their representation of older vintages. Today, Bernard and Jocelyne Dugat manage the property and have bottled estate fruit since 1989. The domaine's 7.26 hectares of vines are old and produce naturally low yields. There is very little intervention during the vinification process and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Dugat-Py ages its wine in a lofty vaulted cellar, originally built by monks, that dates back to 1075. The wines display a concentrated, lush, old-vine flavor that reflects the quality of such a high class estate.
