Burghound Author: Allen Meadows Issue: 49

Discreet and well-integrated wood frames wonderfully fresh, airy, refined and beautifully complex aromas of red currant, warm earth, stone, crushed herbs and spice hints. The excellent depth of the nose continues onto the equally cool and brilliantly refined mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess outstanding depth of material and simply stunning length. While there have been many great vintages of Clos St. Jacques since 1955, it's at least possible the 2010 version could match some of the very best of them. I stress however that lots of patience will be required because even though the nose is presently still expressive, even after a few minutes in the glass this appears to be already shutting down.

International Wine Cellar Author: Stephen Tanzer Issue: Issue 167

Good medium red, a bit less deep than the Ruchottes. Youthfully tight aromas and flavors of red berries, rose petal, coffee, mocha and underbrush lifted by a hint of blood orange. More imploded today than the Ruchottes, but already shows outstanding precision and cut. Extremely minerally and vibrant on the firmly tannic, spicy finish, with great subtle lingering perfume.

Wine Advocate Author: Antonio Galloni Issue: 199

The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques flows across the palate with fabulous depth and richness. Dark red fruit, licorice, smoke and exotic spices all come together in the glass, while the intensity of the fruit covers every corner of the palate. This huge, powerful wine will require considerable patience, but it is impeccable, not to mention stunning in its beauty.
