(d'Angerville bought this parcel of vines on flatter, richer land below Fremiet in '07, and the first bottling was the 2008) Good bright red. Very ripe black cherry lifted by minerals and spices on the nose. Supple on entry, then more closed than the 1 er Cru, but at the same time more precise. This too shows a chocolatey ripeness. There's a delicacy in the mid-palate but the finish features plenty of ripe tannins that will require patience.

The 2009 Volnay Clos des Angles emerges from the glass with fragrant red fruit. This is a relatively soft style of Volnay that shows the open, accessible personality of the year. The finish turns intensely floral and just a bit ethereal. This recently acquired vineyard was planted in 1956.

This silky, generous red delivers cherry, blackberry and Eastern spices. Soft in acidity, this rides a wide carpet of tannins, showing a touch of heat on the finish. 60 cases imported.
