(Note: from a 2.54 ha parcel) A discreet application of wood toast sets off a ripe, pure and elegant nose that features a penetrating melange of wet stone, lemon and orange nuances as well as the classic floral aromas. The extremely rich, intense and full-bodied flavors possess surprisingly good detail given the opulence of the mid-palate and culminate in a superbly long finish. This should also reward well medium-term cellaring.

Very pale, green-tinged color. Captivating high-pitched aromas of lavender, herbs and dusty stone. Rich on entry, giving a dense, fine-grained, almost sweet impression, then surprising acidity and minerality enliven the middle palate. The finish conveys a slightly tannic impression but remains smooth and suave, not to mention very long. This classy Chevalier will need time to express itself.

Delicately fragrant - lemon and clementine and a minerally overlay. Freshness more evident than many in this vintage, but it is still surprisingly gentle given its youth. Sinewy and long. More intellectual than sensual. (JH)
