Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | 93

(with 4.5% petit verdot): Bright medium ruby. Slightly high-toned but youthfully unforthcoming nose suggests red- and blackcurrant, plum, licorice and crushed stone. A bit bound-up on the palate but with lovely lift to the red and darker fruit, dried herb and earth flavors. Displays the classic tannic spine provided by this Conn Valley site.

Seavey's 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate explodes from the glass with deep, resonant fruit. Incense, smoke, tobacco and melted road tar flow effortlessly from this big, full-bodied wine. There is no shortage of fruit or tannin in this large-scaled, firm Cabernet Sauvignon. Readers will need to be patient, but there is little denying the 2009 is a jewel of a wine. The 2009 is shaping up to be another magnificent wine from Seavey and oenologist Philippe Melka. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.

This wine although accesible still young and will improve with time, great core of red and black fruits, excellent oak integration and smooth, well conceived tannins marks the lengthy finish....could be a nice to open one bottle every 1-2 years to see how develops the secondary and tertiary elements

About This Producer

The flagship offering from Seavey is their Cabernet Sauvignon known for its classic Bordeaux styling, richness, and longevity, with some vintages achieving 30-40 years of cellaring potential. This wine is built for strength and ageability, with long macerations and three years of barrel and bottle aging prior to release.

Seavey wines are very well-received by critics and fans alike, and since the inaugural 1990 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, all Seavey Vineyard grapes are used exclusively for the estate produced wines.
