International Wine Cellar | 91

(15.1% alcohol): Distinctly more vibrant on the nose than the Napa bottling, offering aromas of kiwi, lime and flowers. Then tighter and less obviously sweet in the mouth, with firm citrus and white nectarine flavors supported by minerality. Impressively dense wine with a slightly phenolic but bright finish.

This very serious full core California Chardonnay, barrel fermented, full body. Has a good core of ripe pears, butterscotch, almonds. This has the 'fat' for a healthy dish like a pasta, sea food or a Salmon. Enjoy...is drinking full throttle but beautifully.

Perhaps not as balanced as the 2008, nonetheless a beautiful expression of Chardonnay with ample fruit, butter and acid well integrated to produce a lovely blend of new world flavor with old-world structure. Still a favorite for Chardonnay.

About This Producer


Pahlmeyer started over 20 years ago when former trial attorney Jayson Pahlmeyer decided to turn his passion for wine into a career in Napa Valley. After studying viticulture and oenology at the University of Bordeaux, Pahlmeyer returned to the United States and produced his first wine (a Bordeaux blend) in 1986. Under the guidance of Pahlmyer, and current winemaker Erin Green, this reputation endures, annually establishing the estate as one of the finest producers of Bordeaux blends, Merlot, and Chardonnay in California.
