Author: David Schildknecht
The K Vintners 2009 Ovide En Cerise represents a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with 33% Syrah that's sourced from another of Christophe Baron's cobbled vineyards south of Walla Walla and named for Charles Smith's father. Intensely sappy concentrates of ripe, fresh, dark berry; bitter herbs; licorice, and tapenade are inflected with smoky black tea and biting black pepper. For all of its overt density, this is possessed of admirably fine tannins and vibrantly-charged with energy that lasts through a long, tongue-tingling, throat-coating finish. It ought to merit attention for at least a decade.

Supple, expansive and distinctive for the black olive, barbecue smoke and licorice overtones that weave through the dark, ripe blueberry and blackberry flavors. Finishes with hints of basalt and dark spices. Nicely put together, with a harmonious finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

Delicious notes of cherries, cocoa, and nutty espresson. Sexy, svelte texture in the mouth. Wonderful!
