The 2009 Eloge bursts from the glass with juicy dark cherries, flowers, mint, tobacco, licorice and earthiness. I especially like the immediacy of the fruit here. There is pure plushness and juiciness in the 2009 that is impossible not to love. Black cherries, tobacco, smoke and graphite all wrap around the intense, juicy finish. This is a terrific showing from Todd Anderson and his team.

Drank in Ky. Brought it here last year to see how it did in our condo (stored in eurocave prior) Average 70 degrees Fahrenheit +/-. Beautiful strong core of dark fruit, finely integrated tannins. Opened up over the first hour. Wow! Great wine can't wait to buy more.

About This Producer

Nestled deep in Conn Valley, east of St. Helena and the Meadowood Resort, Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyard remains an impressive, if not sometimes forgotten, source of very complex and potentially age worthy wines in Napa Valley. The vineyard produces beautifully rich, blackcurrant-flavored wines that have demonstrated stunning purity of flavor and aging potential while portraying a union of flamboyant Californian ripeness and Bordelais elegance and nuance.

Todd Anderson and winemaker Mac Sawyer initially put themselves on the map with their long-lived, estate Cabernet, but have expanded their repertoire to include Bordeaux tributes "Right Bank Cuvee" and Robert Parker-favorite "Eloge," which he calls "a distinct effort of first-growth quality."
