(60% new oak; includes 2% petit verdot; a blend from several vineyard blocks featuring a higher percentage of rocky soil): Medium ruby. Blackberry, minerals, bitter chocolate, menthol and a crushed rock note on the nose. Lush, broad and dry, with currant and black cherry fruit dominating. Finishes quite suave, with fine but serious tannins and very good length.

In the age of overpriced California Cabs, this wine is a refreshing change. Great nose and flavors of black currants, blackberry and hints of dark cherry. Not flabby at all, with good structure and smooth tannins on the finish. Great value for the price.
