($55) Bright, pale yellow. Spicy aromas of pear, nutmeg and ginger. Then fatter, sweeter and lusher than the Hyde, with the roughly 14.7% alcohol standing out today owing to the wine's impression of lower acidity. Doesn't quite match the Hyde for definition or cut.

Much more limited in production is the 2008 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard (9,013 cases). More tropical fruit and exoticism characterize this 2008 Chardonnay. Like its siblings, it is put through 100% malolactic and aged sur lie with indigenous yeast fermentation. With attractive tangerine and orange blossom notes as well, it is another very fine example of Chardonnay to drink over the next 2-3 years.

Deeper yellow in color. Aroma of honey suckle and tropical fruit. More citrus than tropical on the palate: lime and grapefruit. A touch hot. Overall a nice Chardonnay as it better be for $50+.
