Also less than 30% new oak and from mostly Merlot but from the higher plateau. Dense. Quite refined structure but with lovely rich supple fruit - really very impressive. As though all tightened up with a drawstring towards the end. Very rich at the start but lots of structure. A very successful Nénin.

Sightly less impressive than I had hoped for, but still excellent, this wine displays more herbaceousness than I recalled from barrel, but it is made in a classic style, with loads of spice as well as mocha-infused black currants and sweet cherries. It is elegant, cleanly made, and should drink nicely for at least a decade or more.

Muscular tannins give this red a broad-shouldered character, carrying loam, tobacco and sanguine notes over a core of plum and fig. There's good concentration, but the flavors are austere.
