(2.4 g/l residual sugar, vs. just under 1 gram for the 2009): Good full golden yellow with a green tinge. Spicy, leesy aromas of nectarine and tropical fruits. Fat, rich and lightly saline; in a sweeter, fruitier style than the young 2009 but showing less mineral and stony influence. And a tad aggressive on the back end today. This wine finished its malo in the first year but the sugar fermentation lasted until the spring of 2010.

The 2008 Chardonnay Napa, which was bottled in July, 2010, has far more minerality along with notes of orange blossoms, honeyed melons, nectarines and crushed rock. This mineral-dominated Chardonnay tastes like a California version of a Burgundian Chevalier-Montrachet. Full-bodied, fresh, lively and well-delineated, this gorgeous white should last for 4-6 years.

Pleasantly smooth, rich and creamy, delivering juicy green apple, pear and citrus notes framed by smoky, toasty oak. Full-bodied, unfolding with complex flavors on the finish.
