More Vintages and Sizes of Vineyard 7 & 8 - Cabernet Sauvignon 7:
International Wine Cellar
Author: Stephen Tanzer
Bright, deep ruby-red. Musky aromas of currant, beefsteak tomato, chocolate and nutty oak; less complex and vibrant than the Estate bottling. Broad and silky but quite dry on the palate, with plum and chocolate flavors along with a light mineral note. I'd like to have seen some more primary fruit character. Finishes with substantial dusty, drying tannins and a lingering chocolate note. I'm not sure where this can go in bottle.

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Seven has an equally opaque purple color, with soaring aromatics of blueberry liqueur intermixed with blackberries and acacia flowers. Some cassis is present as well. Tannic and structured, and possibly as deep as the previous wine, this will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and keep for two decades or more. Both are impressive Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons that are pure, rich, full-bodied and authoritative. They are among the top Spring Mountain Cabernets I tasted in this vintage.

Is opaque purple in color, with a slightly earthy nose and hints of brown spice, caramelized sugar, tobacco, cherry and cedar. The palate is solid with somewhat bright red fruit. Although it seems a little young to drink now, the tannins and black fruit is masterfully interwoven.
