($50) Glass-staining purple. Vibrant aromas of raspberry, smoky minerals, potpourri and cola. Impressively dense and silky, with a surprisingly lacy texture to its red and blue fruit, floral and spice flavors. Saturates the entire palate without leaving an impression of weight. The spicy finish leaves behind resonating notes of mace, smoky minerals and floral pastilles, with just a hint of dusty tannins. This vineyard does especially well in years with a classic Indian summer, like '08, says Sussman. (JR)

About This Producer

Radio Coteau works exclusively with small, cool-climate vineyard sites in western Sonoma County. Winegrower Eric Sussman's first vintage at the helm was 2001, after spending the years prior gaining experience with organic winegrowing in Washington and French winemaking in Bordeaux and Burgundy. Learning from the masters at the Chateaux Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1995 and Domaines Comte Armand and Jacques Prieur in 1996, Eric returned stateside with a strong commitment to producing wines with a true "sense of place." The winery crafts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Zinfandel, primarily from designated sites.
