($62) Glass-staining ruby. The most brooding of the K-B stable, displaying smoky cherry and blackberry and black cardamom on the nose. Juicy, spice-accented dark fruit flavors are framed by supple tannins and complicated by mocha and smoky Indian spices. Livelier on the finish, which leaves a musky herbal quality behind.

The other wine I was able to guess. This shows a distinct herbal edge in this tasting, offering a subtler, subdued presence, with complex dark berry, herb and tea notes.

Drank too young. Nice nose of sweet cherries and smoke that only partially translated to the palate, which was a bit thin compared with other KB pinots I've had.
