($75; a blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot and 20% cabernet franc) Good deep ruby. Initially sullen nose opens with air to show deep, superripe aromas of red cherry, cassis, tobacco leaf and licorice. Dense, fine-grained and suave, displaying good definition to the herbal red and black fruit flavors and a seamless, spherical texture to the tannins. But for a slight herbal austerity on the long finish, this would have rated an even higher score.

The 2007 Giusto dei Notri is a gorgeous, dark beauty endowed with layers of sensual black and blue fruits. Soft, seamless and utterly enveloping, the 2007 Giusto dei Notri impresses for its depth and richness, both of which have been achieved without any excess heaviness. Today the oak is rather pronounced and the wine needs further time in bottle for its full range of aromas and flavors to emerge, but make no mistake about, this is a terrific and highly enjoyable wine.

Fabulous aromas of currant and blackberry, with hints of mint and sandalwood, lead to a full-bodied palate, with ultrasilky tannins and a long, beautiful finish. All in balance. This has wonderful harmony. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
