(68% roussanne, 22% grenache blanc and 10% picpoul) Pale chartreuse color. Deep, smoky bouquet combines mango, pear, lees and dried flowers. Lightweight and precise, with fresh citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a late jolt of tangy minerals. Deep in flavor but elegant, finishing with good mineral lift and bite. This weighs in at a civilized 13.5% alcohol.

The flagship white is the 2008 Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc, a blend of 65% Roussanne, 30% Grenache blanc, and a rarity of 5% Picpoul. This is really great stuff in 2008. The wine displays plenty of honeyed citrus, spring flowers, white peach, apricot, quince, and loads of wet rocks, giving a steely definition to its opulent, full-bodied, yet fresh flavors. This is a tour de force in dry white and Rhone Ranger blends.

Appealing for its smoky overtones, medium body, waxy texture and broad apple and citrus flavors. A mouthwatering acidity adds lightness and clarity to the Meyer lemon, peach, pear and spice details. Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Picpoul Blanc.

This light gold hued Rhone-style blend of Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and Picpoul Blanc presents a bracing, aromatic nose of tangerines, grapefruit pith, mild honey, and bitter almond as well as an intoxicating floral scent. On the palate, an extraordinarily effective minerality coats the entire mouth and effuses it with flavor: mead-like honey, peach, and hazelnut begin to describe it, as each sip only adds new layers of taste to the palate. It should be even better in another year or so.

Very green and acidic. After the first glass I had to put it away for a day so it would mellow out. The second night was much better with rounder and more balanced components. I would hold this for another year or two.

Aromas of peach with apricot and melon flavors. Very pleasant with nice acidity and a good finish.
