($60-$75) Deep ruby-red. The nose shows an almost exotic ripeness but also a high-pitched quality to the aromas of fruitcake, graphite and spicy oak. Dense and intensely flavored but at the same time quite juicy and penetrating, with terrific lift to its dark fruit flavors. An outperformer for the vintage, this rather powerfully structured wine has a serious spine for aging.

Crushed blackberry, currant and light licorice. Full-bodied, with lovely ripe tannins and a long, fruity finish. Balanced and refined. A beauty.

Pleasant and spicy (ginger, candied fruits) on the nose. Earthy flavours, dark fruits and some x-mas pudding notes! Nice, to be tried again in 2013, tannins still very present in my eyes.

Tasted at UGC Bordeaux event, Sherry-Lehmann, NYC. A redeeming wine for the vintage. Forward and expressive aromas. Medium bodied, nicely balanced on the finish. It will find some appreciative cellars and collectors for this difficult vintage. Pauillacs in general did better in 2007 than many of the other Bordeaux AOC's. But really we're marking time here. The 2008 will make that abundantly clear.
