The 4,400-case blend of 80% Grenache and the rest Syrah, Mourvedre, and Cinsault, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape boasts a dense plum/purple color as well as a wonderfully sweet nose of fresh black truffles, incense, blue and black fruits, roasted herbs, and earth. The wine is full-bodied and pure with fresh acids, silky tannins, and a voluptuous mouthfeel.

A clean, pure, rounded version, offering cherry pie, red licorice, sweet toast and pretty spice notes that are well-entwined and linger through the medium-weight finish.

Absolutely delicious. Subtle nose builds with air. A prominent olive tapenade note coming forth. Really beautiful fruit and a long finish. Not sure about others commenting about oak. I didn't notice much as the wine was all about fruit. I would wait 5+ years if possible. Tannins a bit tough at the end, but went great with grilled NY steak. Really great stuff that hasn't even yet hit full stride.
