(Sta. Rita Hills, 14.5%, $50, 2,095 6-pack cases) A beautifully complex nose combines spicy earth-suffused red and blue pinot fruit before sliding gracefully into delicious, supple and solidly detailed middle weight flavors that are focused and energetic on the lingering finish that has just a bit of edginess to it that should probably round out with a few years of cellar time.

The 2007 Pinot Noir Ashley's Vineyard may turn out to be the longest lived of these Pinots. Its deep ruby/garnet color is accompanied by an evolved nose of spicy black cherries and forest floor. Layered and rich with sweet tannin, impressive concentration, and medium to full-bodied, it will age gracefully for at least 6-8 years.
