($60; all from Hyde Vineyard) Greenish gold. Highly nuanced nose combines citrus fruits, fresh herbs, iodine and candied ginger, with a strong mineral undertone. Juicy, dense and chewy, but vibrant for all its size and power. Offers a captivating balance of deep fruit, smoky minerals and spices. This very rich, slightly saline wine really saturates the palate with flavor and finishes with noteworthy grip and a resonating note of iodine.

The 2007 Chardonnay Clare (from an old Wente clone planted in the Hyde Vineyard) is the most limited single vineyard Chardonnay (400 cases produced). This backward offering displays a liqueur of rocks intermixed with lemon and orange blossom notes, an intense, full-bodied mouthfeel, a green-ish hue to its color, broad, expansive body, and superb purity as well as texture. Enjoy this beauty over the next decade or more.

Elegant and refined, fresh, rich, intense and vibrant, with a tight, complex core of citrus-laced green apple, pineapple, melon and honeysuckle, ending with a kiss of butterscotch.
