Full red. Perfumed nose offers medicinal cherry, blackberry, dried flowers and smoky Indian spices. Broad and seductively sweet, delivering a sweet, lush texture and powerful red and dark berry flavors. An element of white pepper provides lift and back-end cut. Finishes with very fine tannins, a note of smoky minerals and a light touch. This suave wine is drinking well right now.

Utterly profound as well as reminiscent of some of the mythical 1990 DRC red burgundies is the 2007 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi. If you think that is a ridiculous comparison, I dare you to put it in a blind tasting with one of those wines, since I am among the few people who remember what the 1990 DRCs tasted like at age two! This wine should be on your list to buy. Very unevolved, but a killer Pinot Noir from the Santa Rita Hills, this wine boasts a dark ruby/purple color in addition to a gorgeously sweet perfume of blue, black, and red fruits intermixed with incense, forest floor, and spring flowers. It reveals extraordinary density, a full-bodied richness, and terrific acidity, precision, and purity. A tour de force, it is one of the most promising young Pinot Noirs to emerge from the Santa Rita Hills to date. Look for it to evolve over the next 10-15 years.
