($50) Good ruby-red. Slightly medicinal aromas and flavors of dark berries, black cherry and licorice. A sweet, moderately fat 2007 that's showing more intensity than nuance today, but which finishes with firm, rather sweet tannins and very good length.

A good value in cabernet sauvignon. Has black currant, white chocolate and cocoa notes with sweet tanins and nice body.

Blueberries and blackberries on the nose. Great body and full texture, with a nice finish. Well balanced.

About This Producer

Founded by John and Robin Lail and made by Philippe Melka, the Lail winery has for years specialized in producing the John Daniel Cuvee. This wine is sourced from Robin's vineyard, named for her father, who was the general manager of Inglenook in the 1940s, and was the great nephew of Gustave Niebaum, Inglenook's 19th century founder. A recent addition to the lineup has been a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Sauvignon Blanc under the Blueprint label, recognizing John's architecture business.
