The flagship wine, the 2007 Rubicon (94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc) has a nose of burning embers, subtle smoke, black currants, and sweet cherries. It is clearly the best of these wines. Medium-bodied, elegant, and meant for immediate consumption, it has enough stuffing and overall balance to evolve for 10, or possibly even 12-15 years in a very cold cellar.

Complex aromas of fresh leather, currant, spice, tobacco, black licorice and plum lead to a ripe, rich, full-bodied palate, elegantly proportioned and stylish, firming on the finish where this picks up a touch of mineral and crushed rock. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

From the winery: Opulent and richly textured, our 2007 Rubicon has a velvety mouthfeel with well-integrated tannins. Dark, decadent flavors of black sour cherries, crushed wild berries, and black currants create a foundation upon which rest alluring notes of vanilla, spices, violets, and tobacco leaves. Though this vintage seems ready to enjoy now, the power and purity of our 2007 Rubicon will allow it to age for 20+ years.

About This Producer

The Rubicon Estate Winery (formerly Niebaum-Coppola Winery and Inglenook Winery) is located in Rutherford, California in the heart of Napa Valley. The winery sits on a portion of the historic Napa property first acquired in 1879 by Finnish Sea Captain Gustave Niebaum, founder of the Inglenook Winery.

In 1975, Francis Ford Coppola and his wife Eleanor purchased Niebaum's Victorian home, along with 120 acres of surrounding vineyards. In 1995, Coppola reunited the two original Inglenook parcels by purchasing the grand Inglenook chateau and surrounding vineyards (neighboring vineyards now include Heitz Wine Cellars Martha's Vineyard and Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour). The winery underwent a name change in early 2006, and is now known as Rubicon Estate.
