Site Blog: The Wine Forum Perfectly paired with a spicy BBQ rack of ribs...I swear this could be the perfect BBQ wine! Color: Dark and deep red tot he edges that are clipped ruby. Nose: Inviting aromas of rich cherry and crushed ripe strawberry fruit, subtle oak integration, secondary fruit cake and spice aromas. Palate: Ripe cherry, black raspberry, just noticeable sweet oak and minerality mend well with the wines acidity. Nicely balanced in a big way. Russell has a deft hand with Grenache and is pretty spot on with the Rhone family of grapes.

About This Producer

Central Coast native Russell From took an unconventional path to becoming a winemaker. An Agriculture major from Cal Poly- San Luis Obispo, he slid into the winery scene nearly by accident. It wasn't long before he met his eventual business partner, McPrice Myers (of Barrel 27) and discussions of making wine together, and separately, began in earnest. Russell's label, named in honor of his grandfather, was launched with the 2001 vintage and immediately captured the attention of critics. He uses world-class Central Coast vineyards such as Larner and White Hawk to produce Syrah, Grenache, Roussanne and Viognier. Production is approximately 1000 cases.
