(14.1%) A pungently floral and herbal red berry fruit nose introduces intense, full and concentrated middle weight flavors that display a distinct vegetal character that I find adds complexity but for those who prefer very ripe pinot may find this character to be more than they care for. The finish is lingering, dusty and mouth coating with no evident warmth. In sum, this is a serious pinot built to age and it needs it as the longer this was open, the tighter it became rather than the reverse.

($39) Bright red. Alluring aromas of red berries, cherry, potpourri and sandalwood. Zesty white pepper and mineral notes come up with air, adding vivacity to the sweet red fruit preserve flavors. Dusty tannins add spine and back-end grip but don't distract from the fruit. The floral and exotic spice notes repeat strongly on the finish, which is sweet, focused and very long.

Under the second label, Alesia, the Alesia 2007 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast (400 cases) displays stylish raspberry and cherry notes intermixed with some forest floor and autumnal vegetal characteristics. The wine has beautiful purity, medium body, and a long finish. This should turn out to be outstanding when released in a year.
