($56) Bright red. Intensely mineral nose offers a sexy bouquet of fresh red berries, incense and cinnamon. Light in body but deeply flavored, with spicy strawberry and raspberry flavors and a strong undertone of graphite. This doesn't want to let go of the palate, eventually leaving traces of red berry preserves and baking spices in its wake. Very sharply focused pinot noir.

Opened and decanted for forty minutes. Initial nose of big, round, dark cherries with some smoky toast undertones. On the palate the wine is initial a little less full than the nose leads you to believe. A lot of dark cherry and dark raspberry to begin with. Really smoky toast dominates. After and hour and a half in the glass the wine begins to mellow; the toasty oak becomes smooth, vanilla laced toast and the smoke is now a complimentary background singer. The cherry and raspberry start to show some tart acidity which really makes it a more enjoyable wine. Decent finish, a little high on the alcohol, leaves a bit of burn in the throat.
