($45-$75) Full red-ruby. Expressive nose offers plum, black raspberry, tobacco, mocha, truffle, licorice and herbs. Suave, fine-grained and vibrant; generous and plush yet light on its feet. Finishes very long and classy, with sweet tannins, terrific energy and palate-coating persistence and perfume. Not as fat or full as the 2005, but just a step behind that wine.

A top-notch success, the dense ruby/purple-colored 2006 Smith-Haut-Lafitte offers aromas of smoky, juicy black currants, graphite, earth, truffles, and forest floor. Full-bodied with superb purity, noticeable but sweet tannins, this round, generous, long wine should drink nicely for 15-20+ years.

Gorgeous aromas of dark chocolate, cappuccino and berries lead to a full body, with luscious fruit and round tannins. Long and voluptuous for the vintage. Impressive.

1st nose of red fruit (redcurrant) very refreshing, then sweetness and subtle woody notes emerge. Spicy flavours, mushrooms, very long! Very nice.

Roasted coffee nose, caramel, red fruits, mostly currant and some cherry, nose is still a little primary and tight. The palate is texturally silky smooth and light on its feet, great tannins and juicy acidity clean up the finish. This is still a baby and one would benefit from holding off a while or decanting for several hours. I will wait a few more years.
