Saturated red. Powerfully scented nose displays sexy red and dark berry liqueur, candied cherry and a musky floral quality. Deeply concentrated black raspberry and cherry flavors are energized by tangy minerals and pick up rooty licorice and sassafras with air. Finishes with notes of black pepper and smoky Indian spices and excellent persistence.

The 2006 Pinot Noir Southing exhibits an evolved medium ruby color as well as a big, spicy, earthy nose displaying hints of roasted herbs, sweet cherries, and red currants. The complex aromatics are followed by a medium-bodied wine with complex flavors, melted tannins, and plenty of red fruit as well as tart cherries.

Firm and well-structured, with a mix of spicy dried berry, currant, blackberry and blueberry, picking up a nice touch of mineral and sage and ending with well-integrated tannins.

A very well made wine, but the high level of acidity made it feel somewhat out of balance.

Not sure how to describe this wine. Closed closed closed. I would expect that the 06 would be about ready but I drank this wine over 5 days and just thought the first four nights it wasn't great. Somehome on the 5th night the aromas really poured out and the flavor profile showed up. This is without a doubt a big pinot that could use another few years in the cellar. And yes I vacuumed the bottle each night to give it a chance.
