($48; includes some merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot) Red-ruby. Aromas of plum, currant, mocha and tobacco leaf along with greener notes of herbs and bell pepper. Sweet and pliant, with creamy redcurrant, plum, mocha and peppery herbal flavors lifted by a rocky element. Finishes with dusty tannins. Could use a bit more verve, but offers nice texture and sweetness.

The 2006 Affinity is a steal for a high-quality Napa Cabernet-based wine (actually 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot). This wine displays floral, blueberry, and black currant notes intermixed with some subtle oak and a hint of coffee beans. Generous, rich, with beautiful layers of fruit, impressive purity, and admirable elegance combined with power, this is a gorgeous wine that can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15+ years.

Big fruity cab with nice tannins after it is out of the bottle for 30 minutes or so. If you love a big fruity CA cab, this is your bottle.

Purple in color. High rim variation. Slow legs. Raspberry, Red Currant, Cherry, Medium Toast. Medium/Full bodied. Smooth texture. Medium finish.
