Initially there was a trace of reduction but in contrast to the regular cuvée, it dissipated within 5 minutes to reveal a notably ripe nose of spicy raspberry and red pinot liqueur that intermingles with rich, sweet and nicely elegant medium full flavors supported by racy acidity and a moderately firm tannic spine that culminates with just a bit of edginess plus a touch of warmth.

($375) Good deep red. Raspberry, flowers and spicy oak on the enticing nose. Tight on the palate but with a terrific kernel of juicy raspberry and mineral flavor. Wonderfully pure, intense wine with excellent definition of flavor. The sexy, gripping finish features saline, crushed stone and mineral nuances and mouthwatering acidity. Very impressive.
