WINEMAKER TASTING NOTES Pepper, cured meat, intense small berries and spice on the atypically subdued aromas of this particular bottling. The attack is dense and precise and not as supple and sweet as past bottlings at this early stage. Muscular black fruits, violets, herbs, roasted plum skin and pink pepper carry into and beyond the clean and deliciously tannic finish. This wine seems most similar to the gorgeous 2001, which is years away from reaching its plateau.
