($55) Good yellow-green color. Lemon drop, iodine, crushed stone and spices on the nose, with a leesy complexity. Sweet, thick, rich and ripe, with just enough brisk acidity to keep this big boy from coming off as heavy. Finishes chewy and dry. Not at all a fruity style. This 2006 bottling comes from a new, cooler block in this superb vineyard, planted half to Wente and half to Dijon clones.

From a well-known Carneros site, the 2006 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard's style is similar to the Dutton Ranch, with notes of nectarines, orange blossom, and white currants, but less smoky hazelnuts. This is a medium to full-bodied, stylish, pure Chardonnay to enjoy over the next 3-4 years.

Fruit-driven and focused, with green and yellow apple and honeydew melon at the core. Medium- to full-bodied, with subtle hints of hazelnut-tinged oak on the finish.
