($76) Saturated purple. Exotically perfumed bouquet of red and dark berry preserves, smoked meat, potpourri and black olive. Textbook syrah on the palate, offering sweet raspberry, cassis, candied violet and smoky mineral flavors and a late note of chewing tobacco. Becomes livelier with air and finishes with excellent clarity and lingering mineral and smoke notes. This was fermented with one-third whole clusters. (JR)

The 2006 Syrah Eddies Patch, which is vinified with 20-30% whole clusters, has a dense ruby/purple color and a sweet nose of black olives, pepper, meat, and blackberries. This wine is chewy and full-bodied, but much more structured and tannic than the Jack Robert-s Run. This wine actually begs for some time in the bottle (I would suggest two years or so) and should evolve for well over a decade.

Intense and spicy, offering tight, focused pepper, sage, wild berry and blackberry notes, with leathery scents. The flavors, though slow to unfold, reveal extra subtle nuances and fine-grained tannins.
