Impressively complex orchard fruit and melon flavors coat the palate and are braced by tangy minerality. The finish repeats the citrus note and hangs on with excellent spicy persistence.

Even better is the 2006 Chardonnay Isobel, which comes from the Heintz Vineyard in Green Valley, a vineyard that has also produced some superb Chardonnays at nearby Williams-Selyem. Very exotic notes of tropical fruits, pineapple, and mango, in addition to honeysuckle, make for a vivid aromatic expression. This full-bodied wine displays excellent fruit purity, nicely layered mouthfeel, and a long finish.
