($150; includes about 20% cabernet franc) Good medium ruby-red. Medicinal black cherry and licorice flavors are nicely lifted by a violet element. A suave, juicy midweight, with dark fruit, mineral and violet flavors complicated by a hint of truffle. Finishes with dusty tannins that avoid coming off as dry.

Less intense aromatically, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits attractive notes of smoky herbs, soil undertones, and red as well as black fruits. While not as concentrated as the 2005, it is a medium-bodied, pleasant effort revealing hard tannins in the finish. It is somewhat of a paradox in that there is a certain softness due to the lower concentration, but the tannins seem firmer. Drink it over the next decade.

Starts rich, smooth and savory, with a medley of tight currant, black cherry and blackberry fruit. Full-bodied, structured and balanced, this gains depth and complexity on the finish, ending with anise and vanilla.
