($140) Bright ruby-red. Very ripe but vibrant nose combines cassis, licorice pastille, violet, graphite and dark chocolate. Densely packed, sexy and sweet, with terrific depth but also a distinctly suave character to the flavors of cassis, blackberry, spicecake and sexy oak. Finishes with firm, broad, sweet tannins and excellent length and verve. This shapely, structured, harmonious wine, the new venture of Tim Mondavi, is packed with fruit.

The 2006 Continuum is composed of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 16% Petit Verdot. Its opaque purple color is followed by a rich, sumptuous bouquet of blackberries, creme de cassis, incense, graphite, and a hint of burning embers. This powerful, full-bodied, rich wine possesses considerable precision as well as purity. Both vintages will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring, and both should age beautifully for 25-30+ years.
