The unfined, unfiltered 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve spends two years in French oak and another year in the bottle before being released. This cuvee has a long track record of aging (the 1990 and 1991 are still going strong). The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2006 offers notes of new saddle leather, black currants, autumnal vegetation/forest floor, cassis, and cherries, superb richness, and a full-bodied, powerful finish. Cellar it for 5-6 years, and drink it over the following 25 years.

I really enjoyed this wine. Opened this bottle, ran it through the Vinturri, and drank immediately. The first note that hit me was "mushroom" and then followed up with soil and a burst of fruit. Medium finish with a burst of berries at the end. I wish I had more than just one bottle left. Drank the second day and it was much more restrained and elegant. The earthy mushroom taste was gone and it had much more promintent dark fruit.

WA has overrated this wine. It is a nice cab, with good body and finish, but lacking in the middle.

Consumed over 3 nights: Day 1: Restrained, with bordeaux-like qualities mixed with mint. Day 2: A bit more open but still not showing everything. Day 3: Finally, a CA cab! Intense aromas of cassis, licorice, cedar, and black fruits with a similar flavor profile. Finishes with sweet tannin and mocha. A great wine that just needed some time to show its greatness.

clear dark purple in color with slight red-brown hues at the rim. Clean aromas of loamy soil, back fruit and pencil shavings. Dry palate of black currant with some smoky notes or toasted oak. A new world cab to be sure but with old world characters in the background likely from the fine grained french oak and some Bordeaux blending varietals. Well integrated tannins, medium+ bodied with 15.1% ETOH. Good value for well made Napa cab.
