(from a 2.54 ha parcel that gave only 25 hl/ha in '05 due to the very tiny berries that had little juice) Prost was, justifiably, extremely proud of this wine and observed that it may be the best "straight" Chevalier that he's ever made. Not surprisingly, this is a good deal more elegant than the Bâtard with gorgeously pure floral and white fruit, stone and subtle spice aromas that seamlessly merge into the almost painfully intense and vibrant flavors that, like the Perrières, possess crystalline purity and huge length. This is a knockout Chevy and if you can find it, don't miss it.

($400) Aromas of white peach and crushed stone. Sweet, dense and powerful, with strong minerality giving it a strong sappy quality. The ripeness here is almost exotic, and yet this very sweet, long wine comes off as young today. I'd wait four years. Interestingly, winemaker Philippe Prost believes that the '06s are both riper and more primary than the saline, creamy '05s, and that they need a bit more time in bottle than the earlier set of wines.

Again perfumed, hints of white flowers and citrus. Then a different animal on the palate. Powerful and evident oak but lovely harmony already between oak and fruit. (JH)

Entices with its floral and citronella aromas, then follows through with macaroon, lime and mineral flavors. These are set against a refined structure and a creamy texture that lends a lighter-than-air feel. The finish goes on and on.
