International Wine Cellar
Author: Josh Raynolds
Issue: Issue 144
($75) Light gold. A strikingly complex bouquet displays scents of wet stone, iodine, pear, lemon rind and smoked meat. Tightly wound, mineral-driven citrus and orchard fruit flavors completely stain the palate, picking up exotic floral and spice notes with air. The finish resonates with citrus fruit, stones and white flowers and refuses to let up. The '05 version of this was like a Montrachet while this one is a dead-ringer for Chevalier-Montrachet.

Tasting like a top-notch Corton-Charlemagne, the 2006 Chardonnay Stone Flat Vineyard offers a deep, dense core of orange blossoms, nectarines, tangerines, and hints of wet rocks, white currants, and spring flowers. Full-bodied with a nutty, caramelized tropical fruit character on the palate, this beauty should drink well for 7-8 years.

Excellent wine - great polish and super floral notes with little hint of oak.
